Weather
A Mecca for Warm Weather Enthusiasts
Perfection might not be a reality for earth, but the weather on Turks and Caicos Island (TCI) comes as close as possible. It seems like the sun, rain, wind and humidity all got together and collaborated on putting together the ideal conditions for heaven on earth. Indeed, conditions on TCI are markedly different than their adjoining and nearby neighbors. Moreover, if consistency were a contest, TCI’s weather would attain top prize year after year.
For instance TCI receives less rainfall per year than its tropical peers. Even the two individual island groups– Turks and Caicos– receive dramatically different amounts of precipitation. While the westernmost side of the territory, the Caicos, sees close to 40 inches of rain, the easternmost side, the Turks, sees half that amount around 21 inches. Most of TCI’s Caribbean peers receive from 51 to 60 inches of rain per year. This means TCI is more arid making even during their wettest days of summer, August through November. Add to that the average humidity of 35 percent and the consistent breeze from the cooler trade winds, the summer months become quite tolerable. During these months the high temperatures can be expected around 90 degrees. During the “winter months” the average can be expected around 82 degrees. It should be noted that TCI doesn’t really have a winter. Some even suggest that there is one true season, summer; it’s just too difficult to determine when summer begins and ends. For tourism sake, the calendar should be divided into two season-summer and not summer. Either way this leaves the average sunbather 350 bright, sunny days to seek their prize. Coupled with a relatively non-existent winter, the waters around TCI remain around 5 degrees cooler than the island temperatures making TCI a true mecca for warm weather enthusiasts.
Whatever time of year TCI is the place to visit for those seeking near perfect conditions for tropical fun and pleasure.
